The Paul Taylor Dance Company Performs
in the 2002 Yerba Buena Gardens Festival
San Francisco, CA. July 25, 2002. The internationally acclaimed Paul Taylor Dance Company comes to the Yerba Buena Gardens on August 25th, 2002 at 2 p.m. to perform three pieces from its stellar repertoire.
This free Sunday afternoon performance, a highlight of the San Francisco summer arts season, is presented by the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival in partnership with San Francisco Performances.
The Paul Taylor Dance Company has performed in over 60 countries and in more than 450 cities, including San Francisco. Last year, the Company toured in The People's Republic of China and had engagements in France and Spain. This year, they have performed in Denmark, Austria, France and Italy, before coming to San Francisco, a city which is fast becoming Paul Taylor Dance Company's second home. In 1999, the PBS American Masters series aired Dancemaker, the Academy Award nominated documentary about Paul Taylor and his Company. Time hails Taylor as "the reigning master of modern dance" while Newsweek calls him "the world's greatest living choreographer," and the dance world regards him as a living legend.
The program for the afternoon performance in the Gardens consists of three pieces choreographed by Paul Taylor: Dandelion Wine with music by Pietro Locatelli; Cloven Kingdom with music by Arcangelo Coreilli, Henry Cowell and Malloy Miller; and Arden Court, with music by William Boyce.
Dancers for Dandelion Wine are: Richard Chen See, Kristi Egtvedt, Michael Trusnovec, Annmaria Mazzini, Orion Duckstein, Amy Young, Robert Kleinendorst, and Julie Tice.
