2006 Yerba Buena Gardens Festival ANNOUNCES THE FREE CHILDREN’S ROOFTOP SERIES!
(May 10, 2006) - The 2006 Yerba Buena Gardens Festival is proud to announce the Children’s Rooftop Series. These wonderful and popular free events take place every Saturday in June, July, and August at the Children’s Rooftop Garden is located at 4th Street and Howard Street near the Carousel. The Series presents a cornucopia of interactive performing arts for kids and their adults. The Series includes Contacto Musical led by Jackie Rago with musical traditions from the Americas using instruments indigenous to Latin America; storyteller Luisah Teish dramatically re-creates centuries-old African and African-American tales; Derique the High-Tech Clown, delights audiences of all ages with his percussive, syncopated and dynamic performances; Caterpillar Puppets is a unique puppet group and storyteller Gay Ducey tells tales from the Southern Appalachians as well from a wide range of cultures and traditions.

Led by Jackie Rago, Contacto Musical plays musical traditions from the Americas using instruments indigenous to Latin America, such as the tololoche (a string instrument from Mexico), the cuatro (a Venezuelan guitar), and the cajón (a Peruvian wood drum).
