SAN FRANCISCO, CA. July 7, 2005. The 2005 Yerba Buena Gardens Festival presents Lunchtime Music in the Gardens, August 11 & 18 and September 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 from 12:30 - l:30 pm.

August 11, the ensemble FIELD features Walter Kitundu and Robin Sukhadia on phonoharps and tabla. FIELD merges ancient traditional practice, new instrumentation, and improvisational imagination to create lush poetic soundscapes that defy definition. Kitundu artfully integrates turntables into each of his beautifully designed instruments while Sukhadia inerweaves traditional compositions with improvisation on tabla.

On August 18 Tom Rigney and Flambeau - (Cajun roots) is the featured group.
Tom Rigney, the fiery, electrifying violinist/composer, joines forces with some of the finest musicians on the San Francisco roots music scene. Flambeau showcases Rigney's passionate, virtuoso fiddling, his commanding stage presence, his range, depth, and originality as a composer, and of course, those notorious red boots! Voted Best Cajun/Zydeco Band of 2004 by the West Coast Blues Hall of Fame, Flambeau has been tearing things up at festivals, dances, and concerts all over the continent.

Coming up in September are: Josh Workman Quartet (jazz blues) Sept. 1; Cascada de Flores (Mexican and Cuban traditional) Sept. 8; Jang Seven (jazz) Sept. 15; Maria Marquez Quintet (world jazz) Sept. 22; and Francis Clay & Friends (blues) Sept. 29.

The Yerba Buena Gardens Festival, which takes place from May through October, features over 150 events, including classical and jazz concerts, opera, performance art, international music concerts, dance performances, children's programs, theater, visual arts, puppet shows, cultural festivals, and special events.
